Also
known as the Cote d'Azur, the French Riviera is on the Mediterranean
coastline of the South Eastern corner of France, including the independent
state of Monaco. The Riviera consists of 560 miles of sand and shingle
beaches. Initially a winter health resort of British and Russian
royalty in the late 18th Century, by the mid 19th Century it became
the playground of the international elite which it still is today.
Nice is the largest city with many seaside resorts such as St. Tropez
(popular with celebrities), Villefranche (of An Affair to Remember
fame), St. Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Antibes and Cannes. Besides being a
tax haven, The Riviera is a major yachting and cruising area with
50% of the world's superyachts moored along its magnificent coast.
Monaco has its iconic Casino, Grand Prix, Tennis Tournament, Pink
Palace and much more. Cannes of course, is famous for its annual
Cannes Film Festival which showcases the world's new and innovative
film releases. Nice is famed for its "Promenade des Anglais" a walk
of the rich and famous. Visit all these major sites in comfort and
