21st September - 1st October 2008

Welcome in Provence
In 2008 we will be offering at least one 11 day tour in September.
The daily itinerary includes a two-hour French lesson focusing on vocabulary and grammer. The lessons are directly related to guided tours and excursions, which provide plenty of opportunity to practice and apply newly learned language skills. The philosophy is also carried through to the kitchen, where you will have the opportunity to learn to prepare authentic French dishes using tradional locally produced ingredients.

Provence is one of the most beautiful regions in Southern France. Guided tours and excursions include visits to the many perched villages and historical sites in the region. Provence is also known for its fresh local produce and visits to local markets and vineyards are included in the itinerary. Each sesson brings its own delicacies with the winter months being Truffle season, spring and summer bringing all the berry fruits, melons, as well as new potatoes, garlic and asparagus. September is the harvest from the garden with tomatoes on the vine, aubergines and courgettes, and the air is filled with the pungent aroma of the herbs de Provence. Autumn is also les vendanges as the grapes are ready for picking to produce all those wonderful French wines. You will be invited to sample some of the fresh produce as we visit local cheese makers, butchers, bakeries, and fruit orchards. |
Our accommodation is at the beautiful
French country chateau, La Bastide de la Plaine, set amongst the
plane trees and the vineyards of the Côte du Luberon. The house dates
from just after the Revolution when land was given to the supporters of Napoléon,
and is now in the family of a local wine producer. It features a large swimming
pool and a beautiful shaded terrace for outside dining.
Rooms include master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, one double room with shower
room, a twin room and a single room with shared bathroom

At 6kms from Apt, it is an ideal location within easy distance to Lourmarin and the perched villages of the Luberon and Aix en Provence. Surrounded by fields of lavender, the location offers the Cavaillon to Forcalquier bike track and beautiful country walks.
