Beaches tour (3 Days / 2 Nights)

DAY
1 - Arrival at your hotel in BAYEUX in the late afternoon
(regular trains from PARIS ST LAZARE station).
Suggestion : arrive in the early afternoon to visit the Tapestry
museum that relates William the conqueror's conquest of England.
Dinner at leisure and overnight at the hotel.
DAY
2 - 9am - P/U at your hotel with our guide and the minivan.
We will drive to STE MERE EGLISE, the town on which U.S. paratroopers
belonging to the 82nd were dropped on D Day. After having seen
the stained glass commemorating the 25th and the 40th anniversary
of the paratroopers operation in the 11 Century church, we will
visit the AIRBORNE TROOPS MUSEUM, then continue onto UTAH BEACH.
We will pass the first American Airfield (12 June.1944) signed
by a memorial, the C 47 memorial and the remains of a German prisoners
camp. The next stop will be the beach itself where General Roosevelt
landed heading with General Gerow the 4th US Division. Now it
is time to cover the long distance to reach Omaha Sector and the
LA POINTE DU HOC. It doesn't seem possible that anyone could scale
those 110 ft high sheer cliffs under German firing. Further along
Omaha sector we will arrive onto OMAHA LANDING BEACH, the bloodiest
landing that the American had even known. Visit at the OMAHA D
DAY MUSEUM. Overlooking the sand, the AMERICAN MILITARY CEMETERY,
beautifully kept, is the final home of over nine thousand young
men, who lost their lives in the Battle of Normandy. Return at
the hotel around 5pm. Dinner at leisure and overnight in Bayeux.
DAY
3 - 9am - P/U at your hotel with your guide and the minivan
After a city tour of BAYEUX, first town to be liberated, we will
drive to LONGUES SUR MER German batteries. From the German gun
site we can see appearing in the haze the tremendous size of the
Artificial Harbor built in eight months in England by the British
and towed across the 100 miles of the Channel : ARROMANCHES, which
will be our next stop. After the discovery of the place, we will
visit de LANDING MUSEUM. In the afternoon we will continue our
drive along the Anglo-Canadian sector and the beaches of GOLD,
JUNO and SWORD. After a stop at the JUNO BEACH CENTER, we will
finally arrive at PEGASUS BRIDGE where the Allied Forces landed
first by gliders, commanded by Major Howard. After a quick city
tour of CAEN, your guide will leave you at the station in Caen
at 5pm to catch a train back to Paris.
Your
3* hotel in Normandy : we will reserve for you the CHATEAU

The
Full Normandy tour

Come
and discover the most famous part of Normandy where take place
the Landing and the battle of Normandy in june 1944 to liberate
France and Europe. You will be escorted by a qualified bilingual
guide who will show you round the area and the places of interest.
DAY
1 - 9am/5pm - P/U at the station in Caen with our guide and

Route to FALAISE to evocate the last part of the BATTLE OF NORMANDY
: the FALAISE POCKET (18/22 AUG. 1944). Usually forgotten we suggest
you to discover these different places where the Battle of Normandy
ended, definitely leading to the victory after deadly affronts.
Our first stop in FALAISE will be at the MUSEUM AUGUST 1944 devoted
to the "Falaise Pocket". En route to Chambois stop at
the CANADIAN BELVEDERE. After lunch in a former shooting lodge
in the Gouffern forest, arrival at CHAMBOIS where the Battle of
Normandy ended on the 22nd of August 1944 after 77 days of intensive
fighting. A third of the American killed in action in Europe during
11 months were killed here in less than 2 months. Visit of the
MONTORMEL MEMORIAL MUSEUM that overlooks the corridor of death
for the German. Several armoured vehicles can be seen outside.
Our final stop will be at VIMOUTIERS to see a Tiger tank left
here by the Germans during their retreat in 1944. It is one of
the two last Tiger tanks that can still be seen in France.
Route to LISIEUX/CAEN to catch a train back to Paris around 5pm.

Have
a great review of Normandy, passing by the côte fleurie,
the pays d'Auge. Then visit Bayeux and the Landing beaches,
and enjoy the magnificient Mont Saint Michel.
DAY
1 - 9am/9.30am - You will meet your guide at the station in
Caen or at your hotel. Route along the Cote Fleurie with its famous
seaside resorts : Cabourg, Dives sur mer, Deauville, Trouville
many famous names will be evocated like Proust, William the Conqueror,
the impressionist painters
. Arriving in the lovely fishing
harbour of Honfleur it will be time to take an aperitif. We will
stop at a family cider productor to learn more about our famous
local product : the Calvados and to have for lunch a typical french
snack with norman cheeses, bread, dried sausages, cider
We will then drive down to the old city of Honfleur where you
will admire the 17th century harbor, the half-timbered houses
and the flowers, still blooming in window boxes everywhere. Having
seen few art galleries and the famous wooden Saint Catherine church,
we will continue our trip and enter one of the most scenic area
of Normandy,known as the Pays d'Auge. Thanks to our itinerary
through the countryside you will be delighted to discover apple
orchards, horse farms, cottages and manors
we will visit
a typical privat Manor where the owner will personally welcome
you. Our last stop will be in the protected village of Beuvron
en Auge where you might enjoy a last drink with an apple tart.
Return to Caen/Bayeux. Dinner at leisure, overnight at the hotel.
DAY
2 - 9am/9.30am - You will meet your guide at your hotel. This
morning will be devoted to Bayeux, the first town to be liberated
right after the landing : visit at the Bayeux tapestry Museum
located in an 18th century building. The 225 feet long embroidered
scroll depicts the story of William's the Conqueror conquest of
England in 1066. The cathedral, a mixture of Norman and Gothic
style, is also an impressive edifice which is worth a visit. After
a walk in the old town, it will be high time to have a break for
lunch.
In the afternoon, tour on the Landing Beaches: we will drive to
La Pointe du Hoc. It doesn't seem possible that anyone could scale
those 110 ft high sheer cliffs under German firing. The fields
are still marked with deep holes. Further along Omaha sector we
will arrive onto Omaha Landing Beach, the bloodiest landing that
the American had even known. Overlooking the sand, we will visit
the American Military Cemetery beautifully maintained. After this
very intense moment we will drive towards Port en Bessin, Longues
sur Mer to realize what is the size of 6 inches German guns into
their emplacement. Finally we will reach Arromanches, where you
will understand how an Artificial Harbour worked and appreciate
all the difficulties that the US Forces had with their Mulberry
A, after seen the remains of Mulberry B. After Arromanches visit,
which is the ideal conclusion for this very emotional and intensive
day, return at your hotel. Dinner at leisure, overnight at the
hotel.
DAY
3 - 8.30am/9am - You will be picked up at your hotel. Route
to Granville, a pleasant sailing and fishing harbour well known
also as the "North Monaco". According to the season,
visit of this scenic town with the high city and its ramparts
dated C15th or visit at the Villa Les Rhumbs* to learn more about
the french "Haute Couture" and the world of the famous
fashion designer DIOR. His childhood's house "Les Rhumbs"
was turned into a Fashion Museum since 1997. We will drive along
the coastline road and the scenic Mt St Michel bay : Jullouville,
St Jean le Thomas, Avranches
pleasant family seaside resorts
with nice villas coming to life during the summer holidays and
weekends
We will reach the Mont St Michel for lunch.
In the afternoon, discovery of this unique place, a rock lost
in the sands. Visit of the abbey, perched on the mount's summit
with fine views on the bay. Listed by UNESCO as part of the World
Heritage, the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel is the monument for everyone.
After some time at leisure to stroll through the medieval narrow
streets and the ramparts, it will be high time to leave this enchanting
place to drive to Rennes. Return back to PARIS by TGV to experience
the French high speed train ! (D/O around 5pm) * villa les RHUMBS
open from the 16th may - 19th sept. 2004.
