Drive along countryside roads at the foot of Luberon, and arrival in Isle-sur-Sorgue. Free time to discover the antiques shops along the canals of the « Venice of Comtat Venaissin ». Wander in the exceptional hilltop village of Gordes which ranks among the most beautiful villages in France. A photo stop at Senanque abbey will be included between mid-June and mid-July only, during the lavender blooming season, to take pictures of the lavender fields. Stop at the “boutique” of the Lavender Museum (closed in January) where you will have the possibility to try out an exclusive line of natural cosmetics made of locally produced AOC fine lavender essential oil. Continuation toward to the colourful village of Roussillon and its ochre cliffs. On the way to Bonnieux, you will admire the Pont Julien, roman bridge. Photo stop in Bonnieux, a picture perfect Provençal village, on top of which stands a 12th century church surrounded by century-old cedars. Way back through the picturesque and winding Combe of Lourmarin. Free time in the charming village of Lourmarin, famous for its Renaissance castle. St Rémy, Les Baux de Provence & Arles
Arrival in Saint Rémy de Provence : free time in the village and enjoy its open-air market (on Wednesday only), one of the most picturesque in Provence. Photo stop at the Antiques and St Paul de Mausole (Roman monuments and Van Gogh's Hospital where the painter was interned from 1889 to 1890). Discover the exceptional village Les Baux de Provence. From the Middle Ages, the village has kept the narrow streets, the imposing ruins of a castle and the memory of the proud lords and troubadours. From the rocky spur, it's a breathtaking view on an exceptional scenery that amazes all the visitors. Continue to Arles : walk on the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh to discover the places where he created his most famous paintings dated back from 1888-1889. Pont du Gard, a fascinating Unesco World Heritage site, today the best preserved part of the aqueduct of Nîmes (which is almost 50 km long). The Roman architects and hydraulic engineers who designed this bridge, which stands almost 50 m high and is on three levels – the longest measuring 275 m – created a technical as well as an artistic masterpiece.
Continue to Avignon, the city of the Popes in the 14th century : the medieval walls, the Pont d’Avignon on the Rhone river and the Popes’ Palace, the biggest gothic palace in all Europe (entrance fees not included).
